My Childhood Quest
I grew up in a wood frame house where my sister, eight years my senior, and I had adjacent bedrooms, separated only by a door. The door featured glass door knobs with a rod connecting the two, held in place with a screw on each knob. Whoever’s door knob was equipped with the rod controlled the entry through the door. Throughout my childhood, there was a battle for possession of the business end of the door knobs, primarily because I, the little sister, was captivated by the mysteries of my older sister’s inner sanctum. My keen curiosity was equaled only by my sister’s determination to keep me out of her room. The theme of this library exhibit brought back my cherished memories of being the victor of the door knob battle, at times, and my devotion to the quest.
